Gitugi Tea Factory was built in 1983 and commissioned in 1984.

Gitugi Tea Factory is located in Mumwe location, Othaya Division, Nyeri South District. It lies 37 Degrees East and 2 Degrees South of the Equator and 150 km and 22 km from Nyeri town. Gitugi lies 3.5 kilometers to the East of the Aberdare Ranges, between river Mumwe A&B and 15 KM west of Karima Hills.
